Your Gut Knows Before Your Mind Does🌹🪽

When I was growing up, there were many times I found myself instinctively drawn towards certain things. At first, I resisted because I didn’t understand what this pull inside of me was. I hadn’t grown up in a home that embraced spirituality. We didn’t read cards, talk about spirit, or discuss anything outside what most people would consider ordinary.

So when I felt these strange nudges from deep within, I found them difficult to explain. Whenever I tried, I was often met with laughter or puzzled looks.

Eventually, I simply kept those experiences to myself.

One day, I was sitting on the front steps of my grandmother’s house.

It was broad daylight.

The sun wasn’t in front of me it was behind the house, casting the entire front lawn into shadow. Then, right in front of me, I noticed what I first thought was a bubble floating through the air.

But this wasn’t a bubble.

It was a beautiful illuminated orb.

It wasn’t transparent. It wasn’t reflecting sunlight. It seemed to have its own presence, almost its own awareness. Inside it were tiny particles of light, constantly moving as though they were alive.

I couldn’t stop staring at it.

The orb slowly drifted towards me before turning and beginning to move away.

Almost instinctively, I had the overwhelming feeling that it wanted me to follow it.

So I did.

I followed it all the way down to the bottom of the street. As I reached the corner where the road met the next street, it stopped and hovered for a few moments.

Then it slowly descended towards the ground.

My eyes never left it.

As it reached the ground, I immediately understood why it had led me there.

Lying on the road was a dog that had just been hit by a car.

It was still alive… only just.

Without thinking, I took off the cardigan I was wearing, wrapped it carefully around the dog and carried it all the way home.

I remember running up the footpath screaming, “Help me!”

My grandfather Pa, came outside and looked at me, almost as though he was wondering what on earth I was doing.

By then I was crying.

“It’s been hit by a car,” I said. “We have to help it.”

At that exact moment, my mother pulled into the driveway.

Being the animal lover she has always been, she didn’t hesitate for a second. She helped me get the dog into the back seat, and we rushed straight to the vet.

The dog survived.

To this day, I often think about that moment.

What would have happened if I hadn’t followed that orb?

I already know the answer.

That beautiful dog would most likely have died alone on the side of the road.

That experience taught me something I have never forgotten. Sometimes we are guided in ways that don’t make logical sense. Sometimes our instincts whisper long before our minds understand why.

People often talk about “gut instinct,” and I’ve always wondered why it’s called that. Maybe it’s because it’s that unmistakable feeling deep inside you that quiet pull that tells you to go, to stop, to call someone, to turn around, to trust, even when you can’t explain why.

Then fear steps in.

Fear questions everything.

Fear wants proof.

Fear wants certainty.

And suddenly there’s a battle between what your heart already knows and what your mind is trying to convince you isn’t real.

How many times have we all looked back and said, “I knew I should have listened to myself.”

“I knew something didn’t feel right.”

“I knew I should have made that phone call.”

“I knew I should have walked away.”

More often than not, our instincts were right.

That doesn’t mean every feeling we have is guidance. Sometimes emotions, anxiety and past experiences can cloud our judgement. But when that inner knowing is calm, persistent and keeps gently calling you in the same direction, it’s worth paying attention to.

The next time your gut instinct speaks to you, don’t dismiss it so quickly.

Pause.

Listen.

Ask yourself whether it’s fear holding you back or whether something deep inside is trying to guide you.

Sometimes the greatest leap of faith isn’t believing in something outside of yourself.

It’s believing in the quiet voice that’s been inside you all along.

Stay blessed. 🌹🪽
